Dalin pocket thermic with black and white stripe is a transparent patented plastic film. It comprises a main thermic film that bears a welded black and white stripe of width 60-80 cm. It is used for covering asparagus throughout the season and it can be employed for two consecutive seasons. Warming the covered area is achieved by the transparent thermic sides of the film. The mid-section contributes to improve the quality of the asparagus and protecting the spears from extreme temperatures or frost. It minimizes the temperature fluctuation between day and night as well as the temperature at the top and bottom of the asparagus ridge. It combines the advantages of Dalin pocket thermic and Dalin pocket black & white. It is applied on the field during the months when the cultivation has not yet been activated (December-February in Europe) having the black side of the stripe facing upwards. Harvesting begins early, lagging behind Dalin pocket thermic by about a week. However, the quality of asparagus is considerably improved approaching the quality obtained using Dalin pocket black & white. During hot days the plastic film should be turned over so that the white stripe faces upwards. Thus the asparagus spears are protected from the extremely high temperatures that develop under the film during hot days. At the end of the season the film can be collected from the field and can be used for the next season. The combination of earliness, quality and protection of the spears alongside the regulation of the yield form an integrated solution and a powerful tool at the hands of the farmers.
